As De Beers sightholders, we guarantee our customers the highest quality diamonds. Being entrusted with the esteemed status of a sightholder means a firm commitment to De Beers' Best Practice Principles (BPP) - the diamond industry's gold standard in business ethics. These principles include clear rules and regulations on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and collaboration with the community, verified through annual audits to ensure complete compliance.
We recognize and cherish this responsibility wholeheartedly. Through collaborative partnerships and proactive approaches, we ensure that our contributions leave a lasting and meaningful imprint on the world around us, a commitment proudly uphold in Botswana.
Our operations in Botswana began in 2008 when we were granted a second De Beers sight. In that same year, we were among the first De Beers sightholders to open a state-of-the-art diamond factory in Botswana as part of the beneficiation program to empower communities and promote the economy of diamond-producing countries. Today, we stand as one of Botswana's largest diamond manufacturers and among the largest employers in its diamond industry. Over the years, we have employed dozens of local managers and hundreds of local workers, providing employment opportunities and professional training, including preparation for a digital, automated future.
Our commitment transcends skill development; we prioritize equitable treatment for all employees, actively promoting ethnic and gender diversity in Botswana and beyond.
We take great pride in our activities in Botswana and continuously seek ways to increase our involvement. Out of a deep commitment to the community, Dalumi has long sponsored the Tlokweng SOS Children's Village in Gaborone, an initiative that offers a home and means for underprivileged children, aiming to give them a chance for a better future.
